Moving From Nairobi to Mombasa: What to Expect

The Nairobi–Mombasa route is one of the most common long-distance moves we handle, and it comes with a few considerations a local move doesn't.

Timing is the biggest one. The drive itself takes the better part of a day, so your belongings will typically be in transit overnight before arriving. We plan pickup and delivery windows around this rather than promising same-day delivery, which isn't realistic for the distance.

Loading is done differently for long-haul transit — items are packed more tightly and secured against a longer, sometimes bumpier journey, rather than the shorter trip across town. This is also where professional packing pays off most: anything fragile making an eight-hour road trip benefits from proper protection.

Book further ahead than you would for a local move — two to three weeks is a reasonable minimum, more during peak relocation periods. And keep a bag of essentials with you rather than in the truck, since you likely won't have access to your belongings again until they arrive.
